Elevate Your Cruise Experience 01 Dec 2016

Do you enjoy cruising the oceans, rivers or intimate canal waterways? Get the most out of your cruise vacation by considering these three essential elements:

    1. cruise, river cruise, BudapestExtend your vacation by adding on a land journey before and/or after your cruise. You likely will travel a great distance to begin your cruise, so why not make the most out of your investment of time and money by seeing more of the destination where you begin or end your cruise? Several options can be considered from an escorted group tour, private chauffeur-driven tour, self-drive exploration or city stay. Many cruise lines offer an escorted group tour or city stay but there are also many other sources that may be more affordable and offer much more flexibility.
    2. Private, customized shore excursions can add a more enriching experience to your cruise and allow you to focus on what is more meaningful to you instead of having to settle for what is designed for a group.Shore excursions are an additional cost by most cruise lines and are typically rather expensive as this comprises a large part of their revenue. A completely private experience for you and your fellow travelers will be more expensive than a group excursion offered by the cruise line, of course, but offers total flexibility and an opportunity to immerse yourself more in the destination. In addition, there are several companies who specialize in providing shore excursions in various parts of the world and do so more affordably and in smaller groups than most cruise lines.
    3. cruise, River cruise, couple,Upgrade your cabin if your budget allows for this as this can greatly impact your enjoyment of the cruise. A better location on the ship to minimize noise and motion, a larger cabin, having a balcony versus a window, or selecting a concierge or club level with added amenities, or butler service are all upgrades that may be well worth the additional expense.

Not sure what cruise is right for you, and what enhancements are available? Gateway Destinations specializes in premium and luxury cruises for individuals, families and groups to all worldwide destinations. Enjoy the Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise 13 Nov 2014

Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise

Do you want to enjoy a self-serve wine bar? You can do so at a Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise. It is one of the most popular cruises in the world today set in the French region. Gateway Destinations is proud to offer a Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise tour for anyone who wants to relax and discover the best French wine.

The Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise tour is similar to the Alsatian Wine Route because you get to know more about wine. But it’s also different because this wine cruise tour is very exclusive. Only 22 guests are fortunate to get on the cruise at a time. Singles or couples can go on this custom tour and enjoy six nights cruising Southwestern France along the River Garonne, Gironde Estuary, and Dordogne River near Bordeaux.

This cruise is set in a cozy and air-conditional hotel barge. It’s a small boat used in canals or rivers so this tour is one intimate party. If you love French wine, you may want to attend a Bounties of Bordeaux Wine Cruise organized by Gateway Destinations. We’ve partnered with France Cruises for this wine tasting experience. It’s a unique tour aboard a barge where you can meet new friends, spend time with your loved ones, or simply taste the most delectable wine in France.

The Bordeaux region has numerous celebrated wines and you can taste them on board at France Cruises. A personal wine connoisseur will introduce you to Bordeaux region’s best wines.

You will also get to explore Bordeaux and journey through the idyllic Perigord countryside. Enjoy a whole day of wine tasting, sightseeing, and enjoying a visit to a prehistoric cave. Visit a foie gras farm and taste this very famous local delicacy.

Is the Danube blue? 31 Jul 2009

On a recent Uniworld cruise from Passau to Budapest on the Danube River, I was impressed by the idyllic and ever-changing landscape and quiet strength of the Danube River. Having just receded from a recent flood, the Danube was still flowing high making passage under some bridges exciting and a little challenging. It ran brown, muddy and swift from having flooded many of its banks along its journey to the Black Sea. Although not blue, the Danube was indeed beautiful as it cut through the rich landscape it has nourished for centuries.

The captain and crew expertly navigated the elegant and new River Beatrice from port to port, traversing through numerous locks. As Gateway Destinations is always striving to expand our knowledge base and keep abreast of vacation venues and supplier products, I was excited to join this 8-day cruise through four countries – Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Hungary – including the beautiful wine-producing Wachau Valley. The ship was comfortable and beautiful, with excellent service and great food. Our cruise manager and concierge were particularly knowledgeable and helpful. I would highly recommend Uniworld Cruises and this itinerary to travelers seeking an intimate and relaxing journey through this area of Europe.
