Day 1

Welcome to South Africa

kileyw baby TAfter your arrival in Johannesburg, enjoy an interesting township tour of Soweto – visit the very moving Hector Pieterson Museum and Nelson Mandela’s House to reflect on the “Apartheid” era of South Africa’s history. Enjoy shopping for arts and crafts at Rosebank and Sandton Centre, one of the premier shopping destinations in South Africa.  A welcome dinner will be served at the “Butchers Grill” restaurant on Mandela’s Square. Overnight at Protea Hotel Balalaika. D

Day 2

Spa Sojourn

the big baobabTravel to Polokwane, the capital of the Limpopo province, for a visit to Bakone Malapa Pedi Cultural Village, before we continue to Tzaneen via the picturesque town of Heanertsburg. Lunch will be enjoyed at the Sapeco Tea Estate before visiting the “Big Tree,” the largest Baobab in the world with a pub inside the trunk! Before dinner at one of the finest restaurants in the Limpopo province, you will  have time to relax and enjoy the Agatha Spa at the Coach House Hotel B, L, D

Days 3-5

Welcome the Beasts

lion on safariGiraffe on safariDepart for the Korangwe Private Game Reserve, which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park region. These three days will be spent in the heart of the African bush in search of the “Big 5” and a host of other animals. This area is known as the most diverse natural environment in the world. Daily safaris will be by open vehicle or bush walk with a local ranger. Cultural highlights of your stay include visits to Moholoholo animal rehabilitation center and the Hoedspruit endangered species center, a local school, and a Sangoma or medicine man.  Delight in a “Diamonds at Dusk” cocktail party and truIndlovu River Lodgenk show with a well-known South African jewelry designer. Your evenings will be spent at the luxurious Indlovu River Lodge where you will have the opportunity to help cook local cuisine one evening.   B, L, D each day incl wine with dinner

Day 6

The Beauty of Blyde River Canyon

canyonTravel the “Panorama Route” of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains to admire the naturalpotholes beauty of the Blyde River Canyon, third deepest canyon in the world. Visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window and enjoy shopping en route.  Savor lunch at the Famous Harries Pancakes in the picturesque little town of Graskop before arriving at the Jatinga Country Lodge for the evening.  B, L, D

Day 7

The Wines of South Africa

wine countryEnjoy a leisurely morning before a flight to Cape Town. On your arrival, venture north into the wine  country. Visit the picturesque town of Franchhoek, before tasting wine at one of South Africa’s premier vineyards.  Relax overnight in the beautiful countryside at the Sugarbird ManorB

Days 8-9

Embracing the Mother City- Cape Town

CapeTown WaterfrontTable Mountain cable carOn our scenic drive to Cape Town, visit the delightful town of Stellenbosch, the “Oak Capital of South Africa.” Rich in history with the most impressive Cape Dutch architecture, you will have time to wander the oak-lined streets before we continue our journey. Weather permitting, upon our arrival in South Africa’s beautiful Mother City, take the cableway up Table Mountain to steep in the panoramic views of the city and beyond.  Enjoy a short orientation city tour including the Castle of Good Hope, City Hall & Parade Ground, and DEI Company Gardens.  Settle in your waterfront hotel where you will spend the next three days, Victoria & Alfred Hotel, before dining nearby. The next day will be at leisure with a host of optional activities from which to choose such as a visit to Robben island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 17 years, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, an energetic hike up Table Mountain, shark cage diving, or lounging on one of the numerous beautiful beaches.  B, D (1)

Day 10

Exploring the Cape Peninsula

sunsetCruise from Hout Bay to Duiker Island to view a Cape Fur Seal colony.  Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve with over 4500 species of Fynbos plants, Cape Point, and the Cape of Good penguinsHope – the most southwestern point of the continent.  Enjoy a relaxing lunch on your own in the small harbour town of Simonstown before an intriguing visit to see African penguins at the Boulders. Share stories of your journey during our farewell dinner at the lively Mamma Africa Restaurant.  B, D

Day 11

Savor the Last Moments of South Africa

waterfrontThere will be time for last minute shopping and lunch at the V & A Waterfront or even an optional helicopter flip over the Cape Peninsula before your transfer to the airport for your late departure home. B
