European Train Travel15 Jul 2012

Much of Europe has excellent train transportation, which can be efficient, fun and an affordable way to visit different areas.  Packing light is advisable when traveling by train as there is limited space for luggage, little time to board and disembark, plus seldom anyone available to assist you.

In high season, the lines to purchase tickets can be long, so you are wise to purchase tickets before you leave home.  Some countries are beginning to offer e-Tickets instead of paper tickets which is far more convenient.  If you are taking multiple trains and/or visiting several countries, it may be more economical to purchase a rail pass – there are many types available.  High-speed trains and certain other trains require a reservation as well, so make sure you know what is required before you attempt to board.

Arranging train travel is one of Gateway Destinations’ specialties!
