Travel documents:  Have I packed all airline, cruise or train “live” or e-tickets in my carry-on bag?  Hotel and auto rental confirmations?  Travel insurance certificate?

Notify Bank: Contact your bank(s) to alert them of your foreign travel destination(s) and dates so they won’t block charges on your credit card.

ID: Don’t forget your passport and visas (or other form of photo ID if traveling domestically). Make a copy of your passport to leave at home with a trusted friend or family member AND bring one copy with you, kept separate from your passport.

Foreign Currency: Do I have some currency for the country or countries I am visiting?  Check currency conversion at www.gocurrency.com.

Check-in: Confirm your flights and check-in 24 hours in advance.  You can even print your Boarding Pass on-line in most cases (to save time at the airport).  Did you remember to check in on-line for your cruise reservation?

Driver’s License/Permit: Is an International Driver’s Permit required for the country(s) you are visiting?  If so, you can obtain this at an AAA office.  Make sure you also take your state-issued license if you are renting or leasing a vehicle.

Emergency Contact: You can register your itinerary with the Department of State in case of an emergency (yours or family member’s at home).  Go to www.travelregistration.state.gov.

Credit Cards: Take all credit cards with you that you used for travel deposits (e.g. – rental car reservations, etc.).

Medication: Has medication been packed in my carry-on bag?  You may want to bring a copy of your prescription if placing in container other than original.

Liquids on Airplane:  Have all carry-on liquids and gels been placed in a 3.4 oz. or smaller container and put in ONE (per person) clear quart-sized bag for airport security check-in?

Camera: Do I have my camera, film or memory card and extra batteries?

Luggage: Make sure all checked luggage pieces have identification attached.

Electrical Currency: Have I packed an electrical converter and/or adapter appropriate for the country(s) I will be visiting?  Check requirements at Lewis N Clark.

Mail/Newspaper: Have I made arrangements for mail/newspaper to be picked up by a friend or placed on hold by the post office?  Go to www.usps.com to request your mail to be put on hold for 3 to 30 days.

Weather: Check weather before your departure at www.worldweather.org.

Bon Voyage!
